1. What is The Giver’s favorite memory? Describe this scene in a few sentences. Why do you think it is his favorite? Along with grandparents and family, what is the concept that permeates the scene?










2. In the novel, where do the elderly people live after their children leave? In your opinion, do you think these people should be more or less incorporated into family homes today? Why?











3. What is Jonas’ first lie to his parents? (p.127) Why is this lie so significant? How is it related to the shift of conflict in the book?
